I was at the Memorial Day Parade as I always attend every year and it was sad to see only a handful of active or retired service men and women marching. It seemed to me we were celebrating Middletown more than we were celebrating Memorial Day. It was great to see all of the fire engines, ambulances, rescue vehicles and cub scouts go by but I really wanted to see the veterans marching to let them know we are proud of them and that the applause was for them. Other than the 4 sailors that started the parade, there were no other veterans (in uniform). I thought with Earle Weapons Station nearby, we would have had more participants. Perhaps they were invited to attend other parades in the area. I still stand and applaud your service whether I saw you that day or not.

With all the milatary budget cuts by President Obama there very few sailors at Earle thank him!

Thanks for attending, Ben. You are a true supporter of our lost men and women who serve our country.

It is our GOP Congress that is reducing the size of our military.
